The Nanda Devi East Mountaineering Expedition is a challenging and prestigious adventure in the Indian Himalayas, taking climbers to the summit of Nanda Devi East at 7,434 meters. Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Munsyari from Kathgodam
The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathgodam to Munsyari, covering a distance of 287 km. This journey takes you through the picturesque landscapes of Uttarakhand, gradually ascending to the high-altitude village of Munsyari, known for its stunning views of the Panchachuli peaks. After the long drive, you’ll settle in Munsyari for a comfortable night’s stay, ready to embark on the trek ahead.

Day 2: Permissions and Local Exploration
The day starts with acquiring the necessary trekking permissions from local authorities. Afterward, you have some time to explore the nearby attractions in Munsyari, such as the Tribal Heritage Museum or the Maheshwari Kund. Later in the morning, you’ll transfer by jeeps or taxis to Lilam, just 8 km away. From Lilam, the trek begins with a 9 km hike to Babaldhar Camp, located at an altitude of 2,450 meters. This trek, taking about 5-6 hours, leads you through dense forests and along the river, with an overnight stay in tents at Babaldhar Camp.

Day 3: Trek to Naherdevi
The journey continues with a trek to Naherdevi, located at an altitude of 2,800 meters. The trail takes you through varied terrains, including lush forests and open meadows, with the majestic peaks of the Himalayas in view. After 5-6 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Naherdevi, where you’ll camp for the night, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the mountains.

Day 4: Trek to Rilkot
On this day, the trek takes you to Rilkot, situated at an altitude of 3,130 meters. The trail becomes more rugged as you ascend, but the stunning scenery of deep gorges, towering cliffs, and rushing streams keeps you inspired. After a 5-6 hour trek, you arrive at Rilkot, where you’ll set up camp and rest for the night, under the starry Himalayan sky.

Day 5: Rilkot to Lwan Village
Today, you’ll trek from Rilkot to Lwan Village Camp, ascending to 3,600 meters. This 4-5 hour trek takes you through remote, less-trodden paths, offering spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Upon reaching Lwan Village, you’ll settle into your camp and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this high-altitude settlement.

Day 6: Lwan Village to Naspanpatti Camp
The trek continues as you move from Lwan Village to Naspanpatti Camp, at an altitude of 4,050 meters. This 5-6 hour trek involves a steady ascent, with the landscape becoming more barren and rugged as you gain altitude. The camp at Naspanpatti offers stunning views of the snow-covered peaks, providing a perfect backdrop for your overnight stay.

Day 7: Naspanpatti to Nanda Devi Base Camp
The final approach to the Nanda Devi East Base Camp begins with a 4-5 hour trek from Naspanpatti. As you ascend to the base camp at 4,250 meters, the terrain becomes increasingly challenging, but the breathtaking views of Nanda Devi East make it all worthwhile. Upon reaching the base camp, you’ll set up for an extended stay, preparing for the summit attempt.

Day 8: Acclimatization Day at Base Camp
This day is reserved for acclimatization at the base camp. You’ll spend the day resting, hydrating, and doing short hikes around the camp to adapt to the high altitude. The goal is to ensure that everyone is well-acclimatized and prepared for the challenging days ahead. Meals and rest are the focus, with another night spent in tents at base camp.

Day 9-19: Establishing Higher Camps & Acclimatization
These days are dedicated to setting up and stocking Camp I, II, and III. The team will move supplies and equipment to higher camps while making acclimatization climbs. The focus is on gradual adaptation to higher altitudes, ensuring that everyone is ready for the final push to the summit. Overnight stays will be in tents at the respective camps, with all meals provided.

Day 20-23: Summit Push to Mount Nanda Devi East (7434 M)
This period is reserved for the summit push. Weather conditions and the team’s readiness will dictate the exact timing of the ascent. The climb to the summit of Mount Nanda Devi East is a challenging and exhilarating experience, with the reward of breathtaking views from the top. After reaching the summit, the team will descend back to Summit Camp  for rest.

Day 24: Descent to Camp I
After the successful summit, the team will descend from Summit Camp to Camp I. This day involves careful navigation back down, with a focus on safety. Once at Camp I , you’ll rest and celebrate the achievement, with another night spent in tents.

Day 25: Camp I  to Base Camp – Rest Day at Base Camp
The trek continues as the team moves back to Base Camp from ABC. After the descent, you’ll spend the day resting and recuperating at Base Camp, reflecting on the summit experience and enjoying the camaraderie of the team.

Day 26: Base Camp to Phatta (Ratagangal)
The journey back begins with a trek from Base Camp to Phatta (Ratagangal). The descent is more relaxed, allowing you to take in the beautiful scenery as you retrace your steps down the mountain. Overnight in tents at Phatta.

Day 27: Phatta to Martoli
Today’s trek takes you from Phatta to Martoli, covering varied terrain as you descend further into the valleys. This day is less strenuous, with plenty of opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Overnight in tents at Martoli.

Day 28: Martoli to Bugdiar
A full-day trek from Martoli to Bugdiar awaits, covering 8-9 hours of trekking. The trail offers a mix of ascents and descents, with spectacular views along the way. You’ll camp overnight at Bugdiar, enjoying the serenity of the mountains.

Day 29: Bugdiar to Lilam & Drive Back to Munsyari
The final leg of the trek takes you from Bugdiar to Lilam. After completing the trek, you’ll be transferred by vehicle back to Munsyari, where you’ll enjoy a well-deserved rest in a comfortable hotel.

Day 30: Drive Back to Kathgodam
The expedition concludes with a drive from Munsyari back to Kathgodam. As you descend through the picturesque landscapes, you’ll have time to reflect on the incredible journey you’ve completed. Upon reaching Kathgodam, the adventure officially comes to an end.

1.Meals during the trek: Coverage from dinner on Day 1 to Breakfast on Day 30 ensures participants are provided with necessary sustenance throughout the trek.
2.Forest Permits/Camping Charges: covering permits and charges for camping in the designated forest areas.
3.Accommodation: 4 Season Tents on a triple-sharing basis, Thermal rated sleeping bags, and mats are provided for a comfortable and restful night’s sleep. Guest house/hotel stays in Musiyari are also included.
4.Support Staff: Experienced trek guides, cooks, helpers, and mules or porters are included for carrying common supplies, facilitating a smoother trekking experience.

3.Personal Expenses: Any expense of a personal nature, such as additional meals, snacks, or personal items, is not included.

5.Any costs arising from early departure from the expedition
