Participant Eligibility and Health Requirements for the Trek

Age Limit:
Participants from 08 years and above are welcome to join the Trek.

Experience Level:
First-timers are encouraged to apply, and while previous trekking experience is appreciated, it is not mandatory.

Physical Fitness:
Participants should be capable of carrying a 12 kg Rucksack (backpack). Fitness is crucial, and climbers must possess sufficient stamina to cover a distance of 4 km in 32 minutes without experiencing undue stress.

Health Requirements:
– Resting pulse rate: 60 to 90 beats per minute
– Blood Pressure: Diastolic 75 – 85 mm Hg, Systolic 100 – 130 mm Hg
– Resting respiratory rate: 12 to 20 breaths per minute
– No history of liver and kidney issues
– Absence of Diabetes Mellitus, Bronchial Asthma, Epilepsy, Heart problems, Hypertension, etc.
– No existing health issues that might adversely impact the participant during the trek
– BMI under 25 (Exceptions for individuals with heavy bone density and those regularly engaged in weightlifting exercises)

Pre-Existing Conditions:
Participants with any pre-existing medical conditions or those currently on medication must declare it in the Self Declaration form.

Special Casual Leave for Government Employees:
Parvat Exploration, a registered adventure tour operator, allows government employees to avail of Special Casual Leave (SCL) for up to 30 days in a calendar year, as per the rules of the Pay Commission. This benefit applies when participating in trekking or mountaineering expeditions organized by a registered adventure organization like Parvat Exploration.

Special Note for Junior Trekkers:
For participants below 15 years, a parent or guardian must accompany them. Trekkers aged 15 to 18 can participate solo but must provide a signed disclaimer form from a parent or guardian.

Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kathgodam to Munsiyari

The journey begins with an early morning departure from Kathgodam, heading towards the picturesque town of Munsiyari. The drive, approximately 300 kilometers long, will take around 10-12 hours, offering breathtaking views of the Kumaon region. You will pass through charming towns like Almora, Bageshwar, and Thal, with opportunities to stop at local eateries for meals. Arriving in Munsiyari by evening, you will check into your accommodations and prepare for the trek ahead.

Day 2: Munsiyari to Nahar Devi (2,650 Meters)

After a hearty breakfast, the trek to Nahar Devi begins. The trail takes you through lush forests and verdant meadows, offering glimpses of the majestic Himalayan peaks. The trek covers moderate terrain and takes approximately 5-6 hours. Upon reaching Nahar Devi, you will set up camp and spend the night under the stars.

Day 3: Nahar Devi to Martoli (3,400 Meters)

Today’s trek leads you to the ancient village of Martoli. The trail ascends steadily, providing stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Martoli, known for its historical significance and stone houses, offers a glimpse into the region’s rich cultural heritage. After trekking for about 6-7 hours, you will reach Martoli and camp overnight.

Day 4: Martoli to Ganghar/Panchu (3,400 Meters)

The journey continues to Ganghar or Panchu, both situated at an altitude of 3,400 meters. This day’s trek is relatively easier, taking around 5-6 hours. As you traverse through picturesque landscapes, you will be surrounded by towering peaks and serene valleys. Upon arrival, set up camp and relax in the tranquil environment.

Day 5: Ganghar/Panchu – Excursion to Nanda Devi Camp & Panchu Glacier (4,350 Meters)

This day is dedicated to exploring the Nanda Devi Base Camp and Panchu Glacier. The excursion involves a challenging trek to higher altitudes, reaching up to 4,350 meters. The breathtaking views of Nanda Devi, the second-highest peak in India, and the Panchu Glacier will be the highlights of the day. After soaking in the majestic scenery, return to the camp at Ganghar/Panchu for the night.

Day 6: Ganghar to Rilkote (3,200 Meters)

The trek back begins with a descent to Rilkote, located at 3,200 meters. The trail takes you through lush forests and beautiful landscapes, offering ample opportunities for photography and nature appreciation. After trekking for approximately 5-6 hours, set up camp at Rilkote and enjoy the evening.

Day 7: Rilkote to Nahar Devi (2,650 Meters)

Today’s trek continues the descent, bringing you back to Nahar Devi. The familiar trail offers a chance to revisit the scenic spots and enjoy the serene surroundings. The trek takes about 5-6 hours, and upon arrival, you will set up camp and spend the night.

Day 8: Nahar Devi to Munsiyari

The final trekking day takes you back to Munsiyari. The descent is relatively easy, and you will reach Munsiyari after approximately 4-5 hours of trekking. Upon arrival, check into your accommodations, rest, and enjoy the evening in Munsiyari.

Day 9: Munsiyari to Kathgodam

The adventure concludes with a drive back to Kathgodam. Departing early in the morning, the journey takes around 10-12 hours, retracing the scenic route through the Kumaon region. Arrive in Kathgodam by evening, marking the end of a memorable trekking expedition.
