Commencing from the scenic Sankri village, this trek unfolds over approximately 7 days, promising a captivating journey into the heart of the Garhwal Himalayas. Day 1 | Drive from Dehradun to Sankri (1950 m)

  • Distance: 197 kms
  • Duration: 9-10 hours
  • The journey kicks off from Dehradun, the capital city. If you’ve chosen transportation through Parvat Exploration, make sure to board the vehicle at ISBT Dehradun by 7 AM. For those traveling independently to Sankri, refer to this guide for trip planning.
    Sankri, nestled 197 km away, requires about 9-10 hours to reach, ascending to an altitude of 1950 m. En route, you’ll pass through the stunning hills of Mussoorie and the renowned Kempty Falls. The roads wind through picturesque landscapes, featuring swift mountain streams alongside.
  • Beyond Mussoorie, the scenery transforms, with blue pine forests replacing deep gorges. The Yamuna River remains a constant companion throughout. The final 22 km stretch to Sankri takes you through the Govind National Park, boasting exotic flora and fauna. While some sections of the road may be rough, the breathtaking views of coniferous forests, Tons river valley, and scattered apple orchards compensate for it.
  • Expect to reach Sankri by 5 PM. Sankri is a verdant village offering unparalleled views of Mt. Swargarohini, especially during sunset. In peak winter (December to February), snow may greet you right from Sankri. Accommodations for the night are in guest houses. After -check-in, freshen up, and explore the surrounding areas.

Day 2 | Sankri (1950 m) to Gangad Village by road; Trek from Gangad Villlage to Debsu Bugyal

  • Distance: 15 kms Drive + 9 kms
  • Duration: 1.5 hour drive + 5 hours trek
  • A motorable road covers the 15 km distance between Sankri and Gangad. Departing at 8 AM, the drive meanders through a forest road flanked by Deodar and Bamboo trees. Clear water streams accompany you, providing a delightful experience for nature lovers, with chances to spot Himalayan birds.
  • After an hour, you’ll reach Gangad Village , situated on the riverside, dominated by the Supin River. Following a short break, embark on a 9 km trek to Debshu Bugyal. The trek starts on an uneven stony trail, expanding into open land along the Supin River. Walking under the shade of Walnut, Pine, and Cedar trees, you’ll encounter pleasant ascents.
  • The trail winds through towering forests, reaching the village of Seema marked by concrete structures and a forest department guest house. The Seema Bridge, a large hanging bridge across the Supin River, offers panoramic views of snow-clad peaks.
  • With the views of farms growing Amaranth, providing striking views during monsoon in the opposite valley. The trek reveals snow-capped views of the Banderpoonch and Swargarohini ranges. Reach the Bugyal named Debshu, where the campsite lies. Enjoy the views of Mt. Black Peak, Ruinsara Range, Reaching the campsite by 1 PM allows ample time for acclimatization and summit preparation.

Day 3 Debshu Bugyal (3024 m) to Ruinsara Taal (3650 M )

  • Distance: 9 kms
  • Duration: 6 hours
  • After Breakfast start 7 km trek to Ruinsara Taal. After descending from Debsu Bugyal and crossing the bridge ,The trail winds through towering forests, Continue your trek, leaving Debsu Bugyal behind as you make your way to Ruinsara Tal, a pristine mountain lake at an altitude of 3650 meters.The trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and alpine meadows.
    Set up camp near the enchanting Ruinsara Tal and unwind.
    Enjoy a quiet evening, appreciating the natural beauty that surrounds you.”
  • Reaching the campsite by 1 PM allows ample time for acclimatization and  preparation For tomorrow.

Day 4 | Ruinsara Tal to Har Ki dun Camp (3430 M )

 

Embark on the trek from Ruinsara Tal to Har Ki Dun Camp.
The trail takes you through diverse landscapes, including rocky terrain and lush meadows.
Arrive at Har Ki Dun Camp, situated at an elevation of 3430 meters.
Settle into your campsite, relax, and absorb the serene atmosphere.
Dinner will be served at the camp, and you’ll spend the night surrounded by the beauty of the Himalayas.

 

Day 5 | Har Ki dun Camp (3430 M ) to Har Ki Dun (3566 m) and then to Morinda Tal (3925 M) back to Har ki Dun Camp (3430 m)

  • Distance: 14 kms
  • Duration: 7-8 hours
  • The summit day covers a distance of approximately 14 km, starting at 7 AM post breakfast.
  • The trek takes you above the convergence of the Supin River and the Ruinsara valley, offering sprawling views of the snow-clad peaks.
  • The Har Ki Dun Summit, reached after a moderate gradient trek, provides panoramic views of Swaragrohini-1 peak and glimpses of Hata Peak and Black Peak covered in snow.
  • Continuing the adventure, the trek leads to the picturesque Morinda Tal (3925 m), a serene alpine lake reflecting the grandeur of the surrounding mountains. The return journey takes you back to the Har Ki Dun Camp, completing a circuit of awe-inspiring landscapes. Each step unravels the natural beauty of the Garhwal region, offering a harmonious blend of challenging trekking and soul-soothing scenery, making the Har Ki Dun trek an unforgettable expedition into the heart of the Himalayas.

Day 6 | Har ki Dun Camp 3430 M to to Gangad via Osla and Drive Back to Sankri(3024 m)

  • Distance: 6 kms
  • Duration: 3-4 hours
  • Embarking on the Har Ki Dun trek, the journey commences from the Har Ki Dun Camp (3430 m), where trekkers are greeted by the scenic beauty of the Garhwal region. The trail descends to the captivating destination of Gangad Village, The downhill trek      back to Gangad is fairly easy. After breakfast, cross the Har Ki Dun Bridge, descend gently downstream, and explore the quaint      village of Osla, which features a Someshwar temple with detailed carvings.
  • The trek is not long, allowing time to interact with locals and appreciate the scenic charm of Osla. Reach Gangad board the vehicle and bid adieu to the valley and start your journey for your night halt to sankri.

Day 7 | Sankri (1950 m) to Dehradun (640 m)

  • Distance: 197 kms
  • Duration: 9-10 hours
  • After breakfast, enjoy the scenic landscapes one last time before checking out. Retrace the same roads to Dehradun, aiming to reach by 7-8 PM. For safety, arrange your return journey expecting to be at the Dehradun Bus Stand around 9 PM to account for potential delays.

INCLUSIONS

  1. Meals during the trek: Coverage from dinner on Day 1 to Breakfast on Day 7  ensures participants are provided with necessary sustenance throughout the trek.
  2. Forest Permits/Camping Charges: covering permits and charges for camping in the designated forest areas.
  3.  Accommodation: Tents on a triple-sharing basis, sleeping bags, and mats are provided for a comfortable and restful night’s sleep. Guest house/hotel stays in Sankri on Day 1 & 6 are also included.
  4. Equipment: Micro-spikes, helmets, and gaiters are provided as required for the trek, ensuring safety and support during challenging terrains.
  5. Support Staff: Experienced trek guides, cooks, helpers, and mules or porters are included for carrying common supplies, facilitating a smoother trekking experience.
  6. Trek Leader: A Mountaineering course certified Trek Leader with First Aid certification, along with special rescue training from NIM, Uttarkashi, ensures the safety and guidance of participants.
  7. Transportation: Dehradun to Sankri & Back Transport Available.
